A Year End Message from DASD

Dear Parents/Guardians and Families,

It’s hard to believe that the 2019-2020 school year has officially come to a close.  I am proud of our students, staff, and families. When the world came to a near grinding halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our community made the choice to continue moving forward to support our students and to establish a “new normal” during this unprecedented time that was marked by a genuine commitment to serve students and meet their needs with care and compassion.

Together as one Dallastown Community we faced many challenges. Teachers found new and creative ways to teach and remain connected with students and parents, while our students found new ways to learn and engage with their teachers and classmates. Our parent community took on new roles and worked tirelessly to support their children and schools. When you look back at the past three months, I hope you will feel the same sense of pride. While it has not been perfect, it has been inspiring and I offer my gratitude to our entire community.

To the Class of 2020, while no words can make up for what has been lost or changed, please know that you will forever be remembered for your strength and tenacity as you navigated a senior year that was far from what you had ever envisioned. On behalf of the entire Dallastown community, we are honored to have had the privilege of educating and serving you for the last 13 years. We wish you well as you embark upon this exciting phase of your journey.

Looking ahead to the 2020-2021 school year, the Pennsylvania Department of Education recently released guidelines indicating that we can resume in-person learning as of July 1, 2020. Dallastown Area School District will be working to develop a plan in the coming weeks that will outline various learning scenarios this fall. We will be distributing a parent survey to solicit your feedback on this critical work, so please continue to check your email regularly.

Thank you for your partnership and support during this challenging year. I sincerely hope you and your families have a joyful, rejuvenating, and safe summer.

Sincerely,

Joshua A. Doll
Superintendent
