Leaving a Legacy for Learning
Every August/September, the Dallastown Area Educational Foundation transfers $500 of seed money to open a class account for the new Kindergarten class. Over the next 13 years, additional funds are raised through building-level Penny Wars; the efforts of the 9th through 12th grade Student Representatives; a DFSC Jeans Day with DASD employees (for the graduating class); and, the sale of Spirit Flags and annual events such as the Flannel Fling and Sweetheart Dance (a percentage of the net proceeds). The Scholarship Committee then distributes as many $2,000 class scholarships as possible to the successful senior-class applicants.
