What is Communities That Care?

Communities That Care is a proactive, community-based program designed to address risk factors facing our youth including substance abuse, violence, teen pregnancy, and school drop-out and delinquency.

In the spring of 1997, the Dallastown Area Communities That Care was formed to promote a safe, healthy, desirable, supportive environment for our youth that includes the total community.

Funding comes from the Dallastown Area Educational Foundation, the United Way, organization fundraisers, and donations from community individuals and businesses.

A Brief History

Initiated by the Healthy York County Coalition, our Communities that Care was formed in the spring of 1997. A board was appointed and key leaders among the board were named. These key leaders attended CTC training to better understand the program and make it work in Dallastown.

Our Vision Statement
We want to create an inclusive environment for our youth that bonds together the family, schools and total community. This environment will be safe, healthy, desirable, supportive and diverse. We will achieve this by:

  • Connecting the family to the schools, through healthy beliefs and clear standards, and
  • Collaborating with community resources to rovide protective factors that support our youth.
