Turf Campaign 2012 - 2017

Am. Legion Field Sign

Beginning in 2012, the Dallastown Area Educational Foundation vigorously led a campaign to replace the aging sod stadium field with the latest artificial turf design.  This effort enhanced player safety, through better concussion management, and reduced yearly maintenance costs.  Additionally, the project improved storm-water management to increase playability and usage, and provided a strong and environmentally-friendly athletic appeal.

By April 2014, the Foundation raised over $510,000--meeting the goal established by the Dallastown Area Board of School Directors--and was able to proceed with Groundbreaking on June 9, 2014.

Groundbreaking

By August 2014, the turf field installation was complete -- "on time" and "on budget"!

By September 2017, the total turf cost of nearly $900,000 was paid in full, with no taxpayer dollars (outside of some minimal engineering costs paid by the district) thanks to the contributions of many community donors.  We thank them all for their support, especially The American Legion Dallastown Post 605.

"Completing the project is truly an incredible accomplishment and it would be impossible to individually thank everyone who played a role; however, there are a few that deserve special acknowledgement...

Dr. Dyer and his administrative team, for their support.

Kevin Marquet, for spearheading this project and giving it life.

Greg Rebert and the Dallastown American Legion, for believing in this project and providing the Foundation with a significant amount of financial resources to accomplish this goal.

Jason Jesberger and MSSG (Market Street Sports Group), for their partnership, and for providing us with new strategies to expand our fundraising efforts.

To all Foundation board members, for each event that you helped plan and execute, for each cookie, calendar, dance ticket, and wildcat that you sold, and for the commitment you maintained to see this campaign through to completion.

I am truly honored to be a part of this group and look forward to the very bright future ahead of us."
