To reach a final recommendation on renovation/addition (upgrade) vs. new construction, the Steering Committee first held two public meetings:

Monday, October 23, 2017

Discussed renovation/addition vs. new construction options

Monday, November 6, 2017

Discussed renovation/addition vs. new construction options and began deliberations.

The committee also chose to extend its deadline to add a third committee meeting for further deliberations:

Wednesday, November 15, 2017
Further review of renovation/addition vs. new construction options and final deliberations.

The Steering Committee then presented its final recommendation at the regularly-scheduled school board meeting listed below:

Thursday, November 16, 2017
Full board consideration/vote on Steering Committee recommendation resulted in acceptance of this motion: "To approve the following non-binding construction goals for the project at Loganville-Springfield ES. The construction goals are as follows:  At least (an) 80,000 square-foot program with minimal student disruption/displacement, by maximizing the site for future expansion, with either a new construction or a hybrid scheme of upgrades and new construction, and a $24 million project cost estimate cap that optimizes the location of the building on the site with a goal towards meeting the $20 million original conceptual target.  In approving this motion, the board recognizes circumstances beyond its control may deviate from the above goals, however such goals are to provide the architect with the necessary guideposts moving forward.”
