Ore Valley Pennies for Patients – 2 weeks ago, Ore Valley collected money for the Pennies for Patients program through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  Initially, the school-wide goal was $700, as most schools participate in the program for 3 weeks, and this was the base goal the organization suggested.  Ore Valley collected for only 7 days and shattered their goal of $700.  Ore Valley collected  a total of $6,377.49 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  Of that total, $4,349.00 of the donations were in the form of change!  The top classroom was Mrs. Walters’ 1st grade class who raised $393.84 and earned a pizza party!  In addition, a few staff members volunteered to get a little messy to raise more money for the cause, as students could use their change to vote to see who got the messiest!  The students went wild as a few randomly selected students from each grade level got to put a pie in the face of the following staff members:  Greg Anderson, Stacey Dellinger, Stacey Ravo, Amy Hayek, Jacki Watkins, and Jeff Miller.  A special thank you to those “brave” staff members and also to Metro Bank for their wonderful customer service and use of their coin counter each day!  Most importantly, Ore Valley thanks all of the very generous parents, students & staff who made this service project such an amazing success!
