Numerous federal laws require school districts to provide students, parents, and/or the public with notices. The documents below will help you to better understand your rights.

Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA)
The Asbestos Emergency Management Response Act (AHERA) requires school districts to inspect their buildings for asbestos-containing materials and develop, maintain and update an asbestos management plan.  Dallastown Area School District provides the following annual notice for students, parents and the public, in accordance with the regulations set forth by the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA).

In accordance with Act 35 of 2003 and Act 36 of 2002, the Dallastown Area School District is required to use an "Integrated Pest Management" program.  This annual notice explains the program and the timeframe for notification to be made parents and guardians.

Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
In accordance with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) which was signed into law in DEcember 2015 and reauthorizes the Elementary and SEcondary Education Act of 1956 (ESEA), parent and guardians within schools operating with Federal Title I funds are annually notified the right to request professional qualifications of teachers and paraprofessionals as well as information on assessments provided within the school entity.
